Even though waxing is already painful, choosing which type of wax to use can be just as sad. Not every wax was made the same, but it was all made to get rid of hair in one way or another.
Indeed, you already have thought about the newest methods, like laser hair reduction, but it isn’t just the same as waxing. So, choosing the “traditional way” can confuse the type of wax you should select.
Cheeky Medspa is here to help and guide you about the kinds of hair removal wax ideal for your skin!
Check out this post, and who knows? You may already have this wax type at home!
Warm Hard Wax
Hard wax is a good choice for both thicker hair and thin, fine hair. The warm wax is spread on, and as it cools, it gets complicated. It’s also called strip-free wax because when it hardens, it takes the place of the strip.
After the skin is cleaned, a small amount of pre-epilation oil is usually put on it to protect it from the wax. Once the wax is soft enough to spread, it hardens into a flexible material that the provider pulls off with a lip.
Hard wax is also thicker than soft wax and is put on in the direction that hair grows, which is an important detail. Pulling hair in the wrong direction can cause it to break and grow inward.
When the wax gets hard, it shrink-wraps around the hairs instead of sticking to the skin as soft wax does. This makes it better for smaller, more sensitive areas like the lip, nose, underarms, and bikini line.
Warm Soft Wax
Soft, warm wax is made of cream or resin and is used to wax in strips. It is warmed up slowly and put on the skin in a thin layer. The hairs are taken with a strip of cloth pressed on and then taken off.
People often use wax that they can spread on large areas like their legs and arms. While highly efficient at picking up even fine hairs, soft wax sticks to the skin, so you should only apply it once per area.
Fruit Wax
Fruit wax doesn’t have strips like hard wax. Still, it also has enzymes and extracts from fruit like papaya, strawberry, pomegranate, cranberry, and plum that are good for your skin.
As it removes hair, the gentle wax feeds the skin with antioxidants and vitamins, which can also be used as skincare (a win in our book).
Fruit wax is usually a good choice for people with sensitive skin because it won’t cause marks. Still, you should make sure you’re not allergic to any ingredients.
You can also expect to pay a little more for a fruit wax than a simple resin-based option.
Pre-Made Wax Strips
Pre-waxed strips already have the right amount of cold, soft wax on them, so you don’t have to heat them. This method is the easiest and makes a minor mess, so it’s best for beginners.
Depending on how much hair you want to get rid of, you can use a strip more than once per area. It’s always best to warm up wax strips by rubbing them between your palms.
This makes them stick to the hair better. Cold strips are the easiest to bring on a trip because they need minor preparation and have the fewest moving parts.
It would help to use pre-made strips for smaller areas because you can’t spread warm on them.
Sugar Wax
One of the oldest known ways to wax is sugar wax. It’s also one of the most natural and easy-to-make drinks, usually made with sugar, lemon juice, and hot water. Sugaring isn’t wax. It’s a depilatory type but doesn’t have the same base.
But whether you call it wax or not, this way of getting rid of hair has been around for hundreds of years. It’s very gentle for wax, so it’s great for sensitive skin or prone to irritation. Sugar wax grabs the hairs without sticking to the skin, similar to how hard wax works.
This formula will let you go over the same area more than once without irritating it as a soft wax would. Sugar wax can be a sticky ball that you can apply with your fingers or a soft wax that you can use strips to apply.
Sugaring can eliminate hair from your body parts because it is easy to move around. However, it works best on fine to medium hair types. Sugar wax is also water-soluble, which makes it much easier to clean up than hard or soft wax made from resin.
This also makes it less likely that the product will get stuck in open hair follicles and stop hair from growing back.
Waxing at Cheeky Medspa
At Cheeky Medspa, we usually put a sticky substance, like wax, on a covering and put it on the area to be treated. The hair is pulled out from the root when the body is lifted. Depending on how fast your hair grows, the treatment takes about 4 to 6 weeks before you can see new hair.
After putting a thin layer of wax on your skin, a cloth or paper strip is placed on top, pressed down hard, and quickly torn against the hair growth. There are different kinds of strip waxing or soft waxing, including strips that are heated, cold, or already made.
You can also do a hard wax or a wax that doesn’t need strips. The wax is spread thickly over the skin, and as it cools, it gets complicated. The resin is then taken off without using cloths or strips. If you have sensitive skin, you should try hard waxing.
Choosing The Best For You
Choosing the types of wax based on how sensitive and dark your skin is matters. If your skin tends to get irritated quickly, it might be best to use a cream or wax with ingredients that calm the skin.
